2. Is popularity more important than anything else…dying of thirst? What is the difference between being popular and belonging to the group? Can everyone be popular?
Popularity has been around for a long time, but is it really more important than anything else? The answer is different for every one. Some people would rather die of thirst than not being popular. People have varying opinions, unfortunately for some people, what they choose to do based on those opinions might be wrong. For example, physically dying for popularity.
There is a difference between being popular, and belonging to the group.
Popularity The quality or state of being popular, especially the state of being widely admired, accepted, or sought after. Group A number of persons or things ranged or considered together as being related in some way. (These quotes were obtained from http://www.dictionary.com)
When your popular people do not necessarily have to be your friends, but if you are in a group you will be accepted as who you are.
Every one can be popular. You could be popular from doing a sport, wearing your hair or clothes a certain way, or being friends with the "in-crowd". Every one can be popular in their own way.

Alvine, good job with this essay. I think you could have explained popularity a little more by making your essay longer. I really like how you went onto dictionary.com to get the exact definitions of popularity and being in a group. That was a smart idea to put into your essay. Next time, make your essay longer by adding more details from the book. Good job.
