#2 Popularity
In high school today popularity, to some, is natural. To others becoming popular may burn inside. Many others trying to be popular will do almost anything to achieve the status. Today, in high schools all over, people look down on all of those who are not popular and harass them, and for what? For them not being popular? For them being themselves? Yes.
The status of being popular comes with different connections to the group. There’s the status of being the popular and then there’s the status of only belonging to the group. Belonging to the group can mean you are close enough to the most popular that you can hang out with them. Also you can have a friend in the group and every one else in the group then approves the friend to hang out with them. Those that are popular are those that everyone looks to. There the ones with the latest fashion, that do the coolest things, and that run the lives of the rest of the group.
Everyone tries to be popular, but not everyone succeeds. I believe that not everyone can be popular. When one so awkward is trying to fit in, the self blame and burning begins inside. Eventually, they will have had enough and burst out in anger. In most cases it in a shooting. The rejection of the popular crowd just causes great distress in those not popular.

This is a great essay Tori. I totally agree with you about popularity. There are way too many fake people these days. maybe if everyone were themselves there wouldn't be so many problems in the world.

I agree as well. People these days are not them selves. They try to do the cool thing to fit in. I can relate to this because i had to to some of these things when i first went to fas in grade school. At times i stood by and watched as kids would get bullied which was wrong then but now people have to step in. I think you should of used al little more examples from the book.
