In high school there are two different things that you can be. One is being popular and the other is being in the group. Kids can either be popular or have a certain group of friends or associates that they will talk and hang out with.
Like Josie in Nineteen minutes kids just like her will do whatever it takes to be popular. Josie did everything she could to look pretty and be popular. She would run over and go through anyone that stood in her way of being popular. She wore the popular clothes and followed the popular girls.
She also did what she had to, to be in the group. When all the kids in the group were making fun of the girl who had her period in class Josie put a tampon on her desk just so she could join the group. She didn’t even realize or care about of much she hurt that girl.
In all schools especially high schools being popular is considered to most kids a necessary thing. Kids will go out of there way and drop friends if they want to be popular. They will follow others and do what they do. Some kids even stop everything to just fit in. Being popular isn’t really the most important thing though.
If a kid had a choice of being popular or hurting another kid most likely they would pick being popular. A lot of times kids will even kill themselves if they start to lose their popularity. Just like Josie there are many teens that have items that they will save in order to kill themselves.
High School should be about what you make of it. An unpopular kid can have just as good of an experience as a popular kid. As long as you have friends who care about you and your welfare, and parents and leaders who support your decisions high school can be a great time. As long as you’re happy with the way you are than what does it matter what other kids think. That’s why being popular isn’t the most important thing.
