Popularity: noun: to be widely accepted, admired, or liked. Popularity is in every high school as well as certain cliques. There are many different cliques, for example the jocks, preppies, nerds, skaters, druggy’s, and loners. Then there are the “cool popular crowd” everyone seems to like them but secretly hates them because they think that they are the start of the cliques and the bullying. Popularity to me is a label that shouldn’t be put on n people who are friends with that “crowd”. It shouldn’t matter what you wear, look like, who your friends with, or how you act. Your friends should accept you for the way you are and you should be able to be yourself around them. In my opinion I hate the word “popular” I think it labels people and hurts other kids .The cliques are also a problem. They separate kids into groups that leave out kids. In kindergarten we used to make silly little clubs, but in Frank Antonidies Elementary School clubs were banned because they were leaving out kids and made them feel like they weren’t good enough to be in a club. That was a very good thing to do because it prevented kids being left out or being teased that they weren’t aloud in a certain club. Now in high school as we all got older there are no clubs only cliques which aren’t that bad. There are cliques in high schools because people feel comfortable in that certain group of kids. They feel like they finally found a group who like the same band, food, and like them for who the are and not someone different.
You ask is popularity more important than anything else? Well my answer is no, no child should feel that they are not good enough to be “popular”. Popularity is not the most important thing in life, if anything it should be the least important. Children should worry more about their grades and family and less about their appearance . In twenty years no one will remember who the popular crowd was and who the geeks were. Nobody who you meet in twenty years will know that you were the popular girl/ boy or the weirdest. Kids need to stop worrying about being popular because it is NOT the most important thing.

After reading your essay I liked some of the concepts but thought there were some things that could make it even better. I’ll start with the things that I did like. For starters I liked the opening sentence; I found it to be original and very true. I also liked the relations to your childhood experiences. And the other things I liked about your essay was when you discussed about how nobody will remember whose popular and whose not 20 years from now, so why should it be the most important thing. I really liked that piece of writing. But there were some things that I didn’t like about your essay. First off, Spell-check, nothing big. And there are no relations to Nineteen Minutes in your essay. One last thing it was supposed to be 5 paragraphs. Otherwise your essay was interesting and made some good points.

I enjoyed reading your essay and found many of the topics to be true and very realistic. First off, i liked your introduction sentnce and thought it was very unique. Relating to your childhood was a great idea and showed the effects being popular had on children who for example were not in clubs and felt left out. I did, however, find some grammatical errors but they were very minor like in line three you added an extra "n," that was pretty much it. I would have liked to see it go on a little further and develope more. On the other hand i thought your piece was excellent.
