You spelt the word yourself wrong and you should turn the caps lock off on your computer. Now, with that aside I agree with your statement people should not be embarrassed about their race or color.
P.S. you also spelt embarrassed wrong

Polly,
I agree with your lesson, especially when ;you said "anything like that." Most kids are stressing ethnicity, but you indicate there's more to being yourself than your heritage. Can you give an example from somewhere other than the book to clarify your idea?

yeah like your hertiage just means where you were born and certain things you do in a different way but that doesnt control what kind of person are and your hobbies.Like for example a boy that is from Mexico doesnt necessarlay mean that he needs to like tacos and spicy food and eat it for dinner. He can hate spicy food and only like food that is american or italian.

Polly, I was also thinking that people often don't accept themselves or even like themselves for other reasons besides heritage and all that goes with it. Maybe someone feels bad because he or she has bad skin or is fat. Perhaps someone feels he or she is not athletic or is too quiet and shy. In addition, people may judge themselves based on others' opinions, not their own. What society says is the popular thing to do may not be right for everyone. Does that make sense? However, I do think being the "odd man out" no matter what the reason is a difficult situation to be in, and I admire people who can embrace who they are and not be influenced greatly by what others think or do. It's especially hard, I believe, for a young person. Now I just do what I think is right and don't worry about what others might say, but I was certainly not always like that. Growing up...and growing older...changed my views.
