If your neighbor robs a store, should you get in trouble? If a kid you know from school gets ion a car accident, should you loose your driver's license. I intend to prove that the driving age should not be changed to 18. Changing the driving age to 18 would be very inconvenient for kids who need to get themselves to places.
Some families rely on their 17 year olds to drive younger siblings places they need to go, run errands, or to get themselves to an after school activity or a job they might have. If a kid does a sport after school, but the sport is later on in the night, when his or her parents are working and they are seventeen, they should be able to drive them self there. If the driving age gets raised to 18 parents would have to keep driving their kids around for an extra year. This is a pain for adults to keep driving their kids back and forth to different places. It becomes a hassle for parents, a hassle that does not have to happen.
If the legislature changes the driving age to 18, then 18 year olds will be the inexperienced ones. It will be the same thing that is going on now with 16 and 17 year olds but with 18 year olds instead. It would not make any sense to add another year of waiting for ,possibly, 17 year olds.
As of now, kids go for their permit when they are 16 years of age. You don't have to get your permit right away, but you have to obtain your permit for 6 months, and have to be driving with someone that is 21 or older that has had their license for 3 years or more. Within those 6 months to 1 year, that driver teaches you a safe and defensive way of driving, as ell as you gaining experience within that time.
