Many schools all across the nation are currently emplacing a mandatory school uniform policy in their curriculum. While some may say that this course of action is stupid, outrageous, and unfair I intend to prove them wrong with some important facts that have had a positive effect on the schools that already have this policy in place. Uniforms in school provide for a better and safer learning environment. Along with the great potential to have the maximum learning to be held in the classrooms. I intend to prove that the emplacement of school uniforms in all schools would be beneficial to all.
One reason why mandating school uniforms would be beneficial is children who spend an untold amount of time preparing their outfits for the next day of school. If children already had a uniform set out for them they wouldn’t need to spend hours messing with the clothes hanging in their closet. Children would have more time to study and do homework instead of just coming to classes unprepared because they were keeping up with the latest fashion styles. Say a child has a test tomorrow and its getting late, she thinks to herself “I know I’ve got to study for this test, but I don’t know what I’m going to wear tomorrow” so she ops to pick out her outfit and now is going to most likely fail her test because of this choice. If school uniforms were in place these types of things wouldn’t happen. Think of how much better grades children would get because they are not worrying about who has the coolest outfit.
Teens often get distracted in class, which also may affect their grades. These are common things in a classroom, but when a students grades are suffering because he is distracted in class by what someone is wearing it is just simply unacceptable. It is very to pay attention in class when someone has some crass statement on their clothes, or just isn’t wearing enough clothes. Some shirts that are being sold to a younger population can be very offensive to other members in the classroom. Picture a teen trying to learn in class and one of his classmates has a tee shirt that discriminates his race or what he believes in. This can make it very hard for the student to pay attention in the class that he or she is in. With school uniforms you would never have these problems because everyone would be wearing the same thing.
With the emplacement of school uniforms students who would normally be bullied for wearing the “cool” clothes would not be bullied. Students who are not very popular are often the choice for bullies to make fun of what they wear. Students wouldn’t have to go through the abuse day by day of being made fun of for what they wear. Imagine the typical unpopular guy with glasses and braces who wears the weirdest clothes, and constantly gets made fun of for it. If there were uniforms teens would not pick on each other for the clothes that they wear. With these uniforms in place the average teens school day would run much more smoothly.
As you can plainly see the emplacement of school uniforms in all schools would be universally beneficial. It is clearly plain to see that the benefits for emplacing a school uniform policy would be much more beneficial than the current system that many schools across the nation still have in effect. With just the three of the numerous amounts of reasons why a school uniform policy has a better effect on students than the current system, I believe that the message has been clearly made.
