Popularity is something a lot of kids want, but can’t have. To be popular you have to be someone who your really not. Kids who are not popular are looked down on because they are just being who they want to be. If being popular means you have to change who you really are then why would you want to be popular? Well to every kid in school being popular is everything. A lot of kids would do anything to be popular. School isn’t about being an individual, it’s about fitting in, and every kid wants to fit in somehow.
Somebody who is not popular throughout the school may be popular in a different way. They could be the popular one in their group or “click” as people call them. There are many clicks throughout schools. You have band, jocks, rich kids, geeks, preppy, gothic, and many more. Someone who is popular throughout the school is someone who is well-liked, but does things that they normally wouldn’t do. They probably make fun of kids that aren’t popular or do things such as drink or do drugs to be cool. Groups like the geeks, band, and gothic are the ones who are themselves. Their may be someone who is popular within the group, but not to the rest of the school just because they are being who they really are.
Not everyone can be popular because of the fact people have to change who they really are. Also there are people who just aren’t very social and don’t really talk much and don’t have the chance to be popular. People who are popular are usually very social people who go to all school events such as dances and sport games. Somebody who is not popular probably doesn’t go to those kinds of events. The schools atmosphere is to be popular, to fit in, and to be well-liked. Really kids shouldn’t worry about being popular, what they should worry about is be true to their self. Sadly kids don’t accept people being themselves throughout school. It’s just they way it is and it’s never going to change anytime soon.
