Question # 2
Popularity. Something that plagues many a-child's adolescence in ways one can only imagine. Popularity is something that is so important to some, that they would do anything to achieve popular status. To some, popularity is life. To others, being popular would mean dying inside. It may seem sort of blow out of proportion, but this is how real people feel, and we go to school, with them every day. For Peter, he was willing to go to extremes, just to be noticed and respected. All for nineteen minutes.
There is a line between being popular and belonging to the group. Belonging to the group is someone who's been friends with most, if not all, of the people in said group, so they automatically fit in, and thats fine. But where the line is drawn is the popular kids. Now, this is a group of people, who could have been friends for years. YEARS. When all of a sudden, here come middle school/high school, and everything they've known, eery friend, every good memory, forgotten. Just like that. Like when Josie stopped talking to Peter and joined another group. And not only did these kids betray their friends, but they ACT that way too. They act like the schovenistic, showy, arrogent people that they really are. I don't think you realize how much i love seeing them act this way. Why, you ask? Because they don't realize that they aren't popular. In reality, they are lucky if they have three friends. I guarantee that if you ask anyone else thats not i that clique, they will tell you that they hate their guts and wouldn't miss them if they left, and i do tend to agree. It's funny, because they act all high and mighty, when in reality, no one likes them. Isn't the definition of popular to be liked by all? To have many friends and have a like-able attitude? In that case, most of the "popular" people i know are a lot lower on the totem pole then they thought.
Which brings me to my next point; not everyone can be popular. Such as myself included. I am in no way trying to set a stereotype or offend anyone, but people that act like me and are friends with me, usually can't be popular. That's just they way it works. The same goes for dating. A popular child will never, under any circumstances, date an unpopular child. Ever. Peter tried and tried to befriend Josie again, but she was so blinded by popularity that she couldn't see how much he cared. So he showed her. The hard way. He caused the shooting for a reason; he wanted attention. He wanted somebody to like him. No one will admit it, no one will bother over it, but one child, deep down inside, is SCREAMING with joy, because the person that causes him daily pain is gone forever.
PHEW hope that long enough... ;D ;D ;D ;D
